The Roman city of Chester

Today we have been to Chester, near Liverpool. We arrived at half past nine by car. The first place where we went was St. John's Church, which was so beautiful with ancient  architecture. We had to be so quiet because there were some people praying and listening to mass. Then we saw the ruins of the Roman baths and aphethetre. After that we went  up onto the  Roman wall, which goes all around the city. There was the Eastgate clock which  I found  quite pleasant  but we had to wait to take  a photo because a group of people stopped to chat  in front of the clock (weren't there more places to talk -.-). After that we kept on  walking until  we came to  Chester's Cathedral. We saw  the inside of the building but we haven't gone up  the tower. The Cathedral was really fascinating. I liked the ceiling because it was made with a lot of details. Inside the Cathedral there was a  school choir singing. After that we have bought a pie which all of us have found amazing. We have visited the rest of the city- I liked  the Victorian houses so much .
We went to a museum, then to a park and finally we back to the center. There we ate our packed lunch sitting on a bench  while listening to street buskers. Then we went shopping for a short time. Finally we came back home. I liked Chester very much  . It  is the perfect city: not too big, so cute, with monuments and shops. I think  that up to now it  is my favourite place in England.

Today we went to Chester,it has a very beautiful ruins. We visit St. John's church which is a old cathedral, the amphitheatre, the Roman wall,Eastgate clock, the cathedral, the town hall,River Dee and the park. My favourite place was the Eastgate clock because it is reminder to the people of the fifty years of Queen Elizabeth´s reigns. I only like the Eastgather clock. Chester isn´t my favourite place.

This morning we went to visit Chester for the first time. It is a very old Roman city. The city is surounded by a stone wall
First we went the first old Cathedral which is St John´s church. It has a very old choir,  we then walked to a ruin ampitheatre . After that we went up onto the stone wall, then we came Eastgate clock which is the symbol of Chester and is very popular to the tourist. .Then we went to the Cathedral which it has Gothic style. The Town Hall which has an old  clock  and the river Dee  which it´s a  very  long river and Finally we went to the park when we saw squirrels running about   the trees . The place which I liked the most was the amphitheatre because it´s very big and it was built by the Romans.

I went to Chester with my friends and Letitia by car. When we arrived in Chester my first thought was that it is a relaxing and quiet city. Chester is a Roman city with Victorian style houses which are painted black and white. A lot of tourists love this place.

The first place I visited was St.John’s church which was once the first cathedral in Chester. After this I saw the Roman Amphitheatre. There were only few ruins left from the original. We visited places like the Roman walls which goes all around Chester, the Eastgate clock which is to commemorates Elisabeth II reign, the  Town Hall  which has a big clock at the top , the Cathedral  which is  Church of England . The   last place I visited was the River Dee. It was the most beautiful place you can visit in Chester because there were people having lunch while watching the birds on the river and others were doing kayaking which makes it a great place to visit. People enjoy their visit because there are a lot of things to see and do around this old quaint Roman town.

I went to Liverpool, which is in the north of England. I visited the Maritim Museum, the Albert Dock, The Cavern and the Museum of Liverpool. My favourite place was The Cavern. It is important because The Beatles used to played there. The Albert Dock is very beatiful and it was the most important in England. Martime Museum is about the shipping.

I went to Liverpool, which is in the North-West of England, by train. When I arrived there I took a photo of the city. I love taking photos of the monuments and landmarks. I went to see The Cavern, the Albert Dock, the Museum of Liverpool, the Maritime Museum and lots of shops...
My favourite place was the Maritime Museum because it explained abaout the ships which sailed from Liverpool. Also we read about how the Titanic sunk and how many people lived and died. The Maritime Museum was the last place we visited. But before that we had visited the Museum of Liverpol. There were collections of many important things from Liverpool´s history. Before that we went to the Albert Dock. It was the largest port in England. The first place we visited was The Cavern. It is one of the first places where The Beatles played. The shops were incredible but very expensive. They have a lot of things but I only bought two or three keyrings. In my opinion Liverpool is a great city but we had to walk a lot.

Last Sunday I visited Liverpool. It's a city located in the north-west of England. I went to Lime-Street Station. When I arrived, the first thing I did was to take out my camera. That day I took so many photos.
I visited The Cavern, the Albert Dock, the Museum of Liverpooñ and the Maritine Museum. My favourite place was the Albert Dock because I love water and I liked the Mercy river. I also liked it becouse I found it a good place to go for a walk or go out with friends. Before I visited the dock I went to The Cavern. The famous pub where The Beatles used to play before they became famous.
I visited more interesting places, for example two museums. The Museum of Liverpool which was about the history of Liverpool through sport, music and popular entertainment. The Maritine Museum had a lot of information about the story of the Titanic, the Lusitania and the Mauritania.
The day was so nice. Liverpool is a beautiful city. I was so tired when I came back home. Another day I would like to see the two Cathedrals. This time we didn't have time.

I went to Liverpool which is in the north-west of England, by train. When I went there the first thing I did was take a photo. The photo of a train that was at Lime street station . We went to The Cavern,  The Albert Dock, the Liverpool Museum and Maritime museum.
My favourite place was The Cavern because it is part the  history of The Beatles. It a great place and there were musicians playing their instrument in the street. After we visited The Cavern we went to  Albert Dock I liked it because there was an ice-cream van.It was the most important port in the UK. Then we went to  the 2 museums.
- The Liverpool museum: Here they showed us Liverpool´s history using urban events
- The Maritin museum: Here they told us   the stories about 3 famous boats. They were Titanic, Lusitania and Mauritania.
This day was a fantastic day.  It was unforgettable. I tink that I want to go back to visit  the two Cathetral .

                                                     Our second visit

Liverpool is a big city.It is very beautiful. On our second visit we went to the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Liverpool Cathedral and World Museum. My favourite place was the Liverpool Cathedral because I like the stained glass wridows and I like the organ too . There was a man playing it.I was surprised because in the Anglican Cathedral there were many activities i.e.  a restaurant,exhibitions.etc.In my opinion the day was very good .It was sunny . We walked a lot but we saw many things.

Yesterday we went to Liverpool again by train. Firtsly, we went to Hope Street to see the Catholic Cathedral. It has modern arquitecture. In my opinion it looks more like a disco rather than a church, but it’s nice. It’s a big circle with an altar in the middle which is surrounded by benches. After this, we carried on along Hope Street to the Anglican Cathedral. Before going into the Cathedral, we had lunch in the graveyard below. The graveyard was full of tomb stones some of the children thought it was a creepy place to have our packed lunch but I didn’t think so, it was very beautiful, with a lot of trees and grass. A perfect place to enjoy the fantastic sunshine. We spent a short time there and then we went into the Cathedral. It was really amazing. It has a new gothic style, with high columns, pointed arches, a huge organ and a spectacular dome. When I was there, I felt really small. I think if a building has the power to make you feel something, then the architect has done a good job. Later, we walked to Chinatown. The gateway is the oldest in Europe. Next we went to the World Museum. It has five floors. On each floor there are different exhibitions. On the first floor you can see an aquarium. I liked it so much because I love going to aquariums and watching the different kinds of fishes. I also liked the planetarium on the top floor. It was   really interesting to see the stars and the different constellations. After the museum all of us were tired, therefore we only went shopping for souvenirs. It was a tiring although an amazing day.

I went to Liverpool, by train. I thought it was fantastic to be here again, because I love Liverpool. This time I visited the metropolitan cathedral which is a catholic church. The next place I visited was the Liverpool cathedral which follow the English church, for the last place we saw was world’s museum is my favourite place, because it had a lot of things and the things was ordered in different floors, we saw the planetarium.

In my opinion this day was a relaxing day because we were very tired because we went to the Crocky trail.

Yesterday we went to Liverpool again. We missed the train because we got late.
There we went to 3 places. First we went to Metropolitan´s Cathedral to the Liverpool Cathedral and finally we went to World´s Museum. My favourite place was the Metropolitan´s Cathedral because it is a very big building. It is modern. At the entrace there were many steps up to the main door. On entering the first thing I saw was the alter in the centre with the benches all around. I liked this experience and I would like to go back again.

Food : Can I have some more please ?

                 ENGLISH FOOD

British food has traditionally been based on beef, lamb, pork, chicken and fish which are generally served with potatoes and one other vegetable. The most common and typical food eaten in Britain include the sandwich, fish and chips, pies (pastry with a filling), trifle (jelly custard and cream) and roast dinners. Some of their main dishes have strange names like Bubble & Squeak (which is leftover food from the Sunday roast) and Toad-in-the-Hole.

-Breakfast: between 7:00 and 9:00
During the week the typical English breakfast consists of a bowl of cereal, a slice of toast, orange juice and a cup of coffee. In the winter many people will eat "porridge”which is oats cooked with milk.
At the weekend, the traditional English breakfast is fried eggs, bacon, sausages, fried bread, baked beans, black pudding and mushrooms. In my opinion is it a great way to start the weekend.

-Lunch: between 12:00 and 1:30 p.m.
Many children at school and adults at work will have a 'packed lunch'. This typically consists of a sandwich, a packet of crisps, a piece of fruit and a drink. The 'packed lunch' is kept in a plastic container.
Sandwiches are also known as a 'butty' or 'sarnie' in the north of England. Some children here put crisps inside their butty which I think is quite unusual.

-Dinner: between 6:30 and 20:00.
It is the main meal of the day. The evening meal is usually called 'dinner' or 'supper'. The typical English dinner today is curry, pasta, pizza, chips or rice.
The Sunday Roast Dinner: is when the people usually have more time to cook and to sit down all together. Traditionally it consists of roast meat, (cooked in the oven for about two hours), two different kinds of vegetables and potatoes with a Yorkshire pudding. The most common pieces of meat are beef, lamb or pork; chicken is also popular.

Some examples of British food:

On the left is a pork chop, with dauphinoise potatoes. On the top there is a piece of tiramisu. On the bottom right there are some fish and chips with ketchup.

On the top left is a Sunday roast chicken dinner. On the right there 1is some toast. Underneather there is hamsoup. Nextto this you can see some typical ice-creams.

On the left is a meat pie and chips. On the right is a pancake with chocolate.

Here we have sweetcorn with fish pie, a bar of chocolate and chicken soup.

Keep calm and...Fish and chips!

Two days ago, we went to Widnes,   a small town in the north-west of England where I'm staying. The part that we visited was quite cute, with a market where you can buy all kinds of things. For lunch, we bought a cone of fish and chips in one of the shops. Fish and chips are a typical take-away lunch. People normally eat them in the street with their fingers or with a wooden fork. They can be eaten with salt and vinegar. Everybody bought a cone of fish and chips. We sat on a bench to eat them. I really liked them. I hope we'll eat them again before we go back to Spain.

The other day  we went to Widnes to have fish and chips. Here we went to the shop where there were a lot of different pots of gravy, mushy peas, etc. Here it is typical to order the fish and chips with salt and vinegar. We ordered a cone of chips with 3 pieces of cod. We ate them on a bench in the sunshine . The fish and chips were hot. But the chips were bland. We didn´t put any sauces on them. I think it was a good experience so that I know what they are like .

Fish and chips is a typical british dish. Some days ago we went to a place in Widnes to buy this meal. I had it with salt and vinegar on it. Andrés and i shared it because we weren´t very hungry. In the shop we could see who prepared these dishes whish the put in a cone. First they put the chips and secondly the cod with batter. We ate it on a bench. The chips were without salt but the fish was delicius.
In my opinion this dish is good but it was bland.
