The cavern tours

It is said that the mining of this area began in Roman times, reaching its best  in the 17th Century. The miners are now long gone but in emptying the ground of the rich mineral deposits, they left behind a large network of naturally formed caverns and passageways dating back millions of years. Now, regular guided tours allow you to retrace the footsteps of the Miners underground, and experience the spectacular caverns they left behind.

Woodland walks

Since 1780 the enclosure of 30 acres on Masson Hill started the development of what was then called a ‘Savage Garden’. This was a reflection of the age when Shelley, Wordsworth and other great names promoted the wonderment of nature and the beauty of the environment. Early visitors to the developing Spa Town of Matlock Bath were encouraged to walk up the hill and enjoy the woodlands. New pathways were carved in to the hillside on circuitous routes and eventually the Victorians built the Prospect Tower. All were designed in such a way as to open up the spectacular views over the Derwent Valley below and the surrounding splendour of the Peak District.

Borja.
I have to say that it was the worst place that I have been to in England. There were only a few of cable cars, a park, play areas and 3 museums, and that's all. I thought that the town was really ugly. I didn't like it and to go there it took us more than 2 hours. The only thing  that I liked was that I could sleep more in the car. When we arrived home we eat in KFC which was fantastic. The rest of the day was so boring, and I would have prefer to have stayed at home and to have lessons. I don't known why people go there. The only thing I know is that I don't want to go there again.

Lucy.
We visited Derbyshire´s county town of Matlock. The reason for our visit to this beautiful city was Heights of Abraham. You need to take a cable car to get to the great caves. You can get to the caves with your entrance ticket, but if you are thinking about exploring the depths of these caves, you will have to be prepared and take warm clothes. The temperature in the caves is about 7ºC. Even thought it is a little cold it is worth it because you can really enjoy the guided tour. The guide explains how the miners used to work and things of interest. We had lunch sitting on the grass hill looking at the gorgeous view. Thought it was boiling I had a good time.

Lucia ,
We were 2 hours by car until we arrived at Maclock to visit the Heighs of Abraham.
The cable car was slow so we all could see the Valley and the views below.
At the top of the hill we visited the caves.
In the past these caves were mined for lead and minerals. The mines are an important part of history , telling the story of olden days.
Later , we played in the park and I had a good time here.
After this we went for Marlock and here , I bought an ice-cream. We were all very tired and I slept for 2 hour on the journey home. When we arrived home we had KFC form dinner.
I liked it !
